Why Choose Anacrusis?

We understand the real challenges educators face, from building engaging curriculum to preparing students for performances, and we’re committed to walking alongside you every step of the way.

The name Anacrusis refers to the "pickup" before the first full measure in music, an unstressed beginning that propels everything forward. We believe music educators are that pickup: the spark that sets growth in motion for their students. Through innovative resources, inservice training, custom choreography videos, and choral clinics, we aim to equip directors with everything they need to help students find, grow, and nourish their voice, both musically and personally.

At Anacrusis, you’re not just teaching music. You’re changing lives. We’re here to make sure you never have to do that work alone.

Meet the Founder

Jennifer Agbu holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Music Education from the University of Houston. Now in her 15th year teaching junior high choir, she brings a wealth of experience, energy, and heart to every person she works with.

Jennifer has performed in numerous local musical theatre productions and sung with the Houston Symphony Chorus. A two-time grant recipient, two-time Teacher of the Year, and frequent convention clinician, she believes music is a powerful vehicle for building lifelong skills like confidence, creativity, and collaboration.

She has coached students for roles in elementary district musicals, music school auditions, and musical theatre productions. Currently, Jennifer teaches in Katy ISD, where her choirs consistently earn top honors at contests. She also serves as the Artistic Director of the Houston Show Choir and is an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) and the Texas Music Adjudicators Association (TMAA).

When she’s not making music, Jennifer enjoys good food, great books, quality naps, and sharing her passion for music with everyone she meets.
